NASCAR is in Indy this weekend, and
that means someone will kiss the bricks at the "big" track, while a lot of
beating and banging will go on at the nearby "short" track. Meanwhile, the
IndyCars head north to Edmonton, Canada for the first time.

It's a weekend off for the NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series, but the Nationwide Series hits the track at Gateway, while
the Craftsman Truck Series makes a visit to Kentucky. The IndyCars motor into
Mid-Ohio for the second time, and Formula One revs it up in Hockenheim,
Germany.

With seven victories in 19 Sprint Cup
Series races this season, Kyle Busch is making a bid towards tying, or perhaps
breaking, the NASCAR modern-era record of 13 wins in a season, set by Richard
Petty in 1975 and Jeff Gordon in 1998.

 | Newman, Penske parting ways after season |
Ryan Newman, the 2008 Daytona 500 winner,
became a free agent in the Sprint Cup Series. Newman and Penske Racing
announced Monday they have mutually agreed to move in new directions at the
end of the season.

Ryan Newman came from fourth on the final restart to win the 50th running of the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway. The No.12 driver took the checkered flag 0.092 seconds ahead of Penske Racing teammate Kurt Busch.

Carl Edwards had to go a few extra laps, but the outcome was rarely in doubt over the last 100 laps as he won Sunday's Samsung 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Jimmie Johnson overcame an early race mistake by stretching his final tank of fuel for the final 81 laps to capture Saturday night's Subway Fresh Fit 500 Sprint Cup race at the Phoenix International Raceway. The No.48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet took the checkered flag 7.002 seconds ahead of Clint Bowyer.

Virginian Denny Hamlin's pit strategy forced him to work his way back from 19th place, but the third-year driver took his time and captured Sunday's Goody's Cool Orange 500 at the Martinsville Speedway.

Kyle Busch won Sunday's Aaron's 499 Sprint Cup race at the Talladega Superspeedway as the checkered flag came out because of two multi-car accidents on the last lap. The No.18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota crossed the finish line just ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya.
